IDL 7.1 features

With IDL 7.1 being released today, I thought it would be useful to have a series of articles with examples about the new features introduced in IDL 7.1. I’m not going to cover the features that were added between 7.0 and 7.1 i.e. Mac OS X 64-bit support, updated scientific library support, updated IDL Workbench (with IDLdoc integration), etc. I will focus on features that I have been using: code distribution enhancements, 24-bit PostScript, Windows command line, and iTools procedural API.

In the meantime, check out the latest release page for more information from ITT VIS about the new features.

I'm a software developer focusing on high-performance computing and visualization in scientific programming. I work mostly in IDL, but occasionally use C, CUDA, and Python.
