Pictures of Numbers blog
posted Mon 3 Dec 2007 by Michael Galloy under VisualizationI recently discovered Mike Dickison’s Pictures of Numbers blog. He keeps the quality very high (posting only when he has a polished article, averaging just over one post per month for the last two years). For example, past articles discuss:
- General tips for improving visualizations like the “Better Axes” article.
- Book reviews like this one for Tufte’s Beautiful Evidence.
- Criticism (with his own reworking) of the poor visualizations, like this article about a misleading graphic in the New York Times Magazine.
The posts stopped in mid-September, but I’m hoping that is just a brief hiatus and he will continue soon.

Sounds familar. ;) Postings stopping for awhile, that is.
Thanks for the tip. I added his RSS feed to my WIZZ RSS list. I’m always looking for ways to improve my graphic displays.
