I recently discovered Mike Dickison’s Pictures of Numbers blog. He keeps the quality very high (posting only when he has a polished article, averaging just over one post per month for the last two years). For example, past articles discuss:

  1. General tips for improving visualizations like the “Better Axes” article.
  2. Book reviews like this one for Tufte’s Beautiful Evidence.
  3. Criticism (with his own reworking) of the poor visualizations, like this article about a misleading graphic in the New York Times Magazine.

The posts stopped in mid-September, but I’m hoping that is just a brief hiatus and he will continue soon.
